IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS OF CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD PRESENTS: THE BARRYMORE TRILOGY BLOGATHON.

blogathIn commemoration of Ethel Barrymore’s, 136th Birthday on August 15th, I’m hosting, The Barrymore Trilogy Blogathon, a blogging event for film enthusiast bloggers to coalesce by paying tribute to the ‘Royal family of Hollywood’, known as the fabulous Barrymore’s. Ethel Barrymore has been my third favorite actress for many years, and being an ardent supporter of Ethel, I’m also very passionate about John and Lionel. To me, the Barrymore siblings are very underrated, and definitely deserve more recognition than what they have received during the years, so for the special day, I thought I would honor the Barrymore’s by hosting a blogathon, dedicated to the entire Barrymore family, starting from Louisa Lane Drew and continuing on to the present day with John’s granddaughter, Drew Barrymore.

BLOGATHON RULES:

1. You can write about any subject relating to the Barrymore’s, or any movie from the filmography of any member from the Barrymore family of actors. The choice is yours. As long as the topic relates to any aspect of the Barrymore’s or their career, it’s more than welcome.

2. Duplicates are welcome. While many blogathons don’t allow duplicates, I’m more than happy to have more than one person blogging about the same subject.

3. To express your interest in participating in the blogathon, leave a comment on my blog, along with the name of your blog, and the subject you wish to cover, or send me an email at: carolelombardforever yahoo.com. If you decide to register by email, please be sure to include the name of your blog, and the topic you wish to cover. Once you get confirmation, please spread the word about this blogathon by advertising the event on your blog. Below are a few banners, so grab yourself a banner, and let’s celebrate the indelible Barrymore’s.

  1. Mine shall be: “Drinking with John” – How Twentieth Century, Bill of Divorcement, Grand Hotel and Dinner at Eight are the ultimate bender quadrilogy – and also if you can find it, Frederic March as JB in THE ROYAL FAMILY OF BROADWAY (at acidemic.blogspot.com)

  2. Greetings. I received your Barrymore Blogathon invitation and would like to sign up on behalf of MovieFanFare. On Friday 8/14 I’ll be reviewing the 1958 biodrama Too Much, Too Soon, starring Dorothy Malone as Diana Barrymore and Errol Flynn as her father, John Barrymore. We’ll put a banner up on our homepage by tomorrow. Thanks.

  3. Very cool idea for a blogathon. I don’t have a blog but I’ll be reading all the entries. I like the Barrymore brothers but I love Ethel a bit more. I’ve recently been able to catch up on many of her lesser known films through the double wonders of Youtube (Deadline U.S.A., Moss Rose & The Secret of Convict Lake) and TCM (Johnny Trouble & It’s a Big Country). Now if I could only find Just for You somewhere I’ll have seen her complete filmography not counting her silents.

  4. Could I write about “The Invisible Woman” (1940)? It’s a strange, little send-up of Universal’s horror films, but features John Barrymore in one of his last film roles.

My blog’s web address is sacred-celluloid.blogspot.com.
