As an avid fan of Rosalind Russell, I was anxious for this blogathon to arrive. Rosalind is unfortunately extremely underrated, and does not get the recognition that she deserves. It is for this reason why I am putting her back on the radar for the next three days.

Today Rosalind would have celebrated her 112th birthday. For the occasion a prolific array of bloggers are teaming up to honor the indelible talents of this great actress, who holds a special place in my heart. A big thank you to those who have taken the time to participate. I look forward to reading your entries.

      3. Cool! I have some distinct memories of seeing the film the first time and some general ideas of my reaction but I had very little memory of the film itself. I can’t even remember if I’d seen it once or twice before.

      4. I’ve seen the film a few times, but its not one that I revisit often. I honestly think that William Holden was miscast in the film, and so were a few others. My favorite star in Picnic is Rosalind. She has the more meatier role.

        I know what you mean! I have often had my WordPress comments fail to be published. I’m glad that we were able to connect! I have heard a lot about “The Spiral Staircase,” and I look forward to reading your thoughts on it.

        Thank you very much for your good wishes about my event yesterday. As a matter of fact, it was very successful. It was my first real chance to respond impromptu to live questions on the hot topics of the Code. It was a lot of fun! I made some very good connections. We will be posting some footage from the event in a couple of weeks. I will send you the link or the post, depending on how we make it available.

        The other event we are hosting in July is #CleanMovieMonth85. You can read about it here: https://pureentertainmentpreservationsociety.wordpress.com/2019/06/07/announcing-cleanmoviemonth85/. I don’t know if you knew about this, but we hosted this event last year for the first time as #CleanMovieMonth. We have declared that July is a month to celebrate the American Breen Era, the Code, and decent entertainment. Viewers can participate by only watching Code films, those made in America between July of 1934 and 1954, throughout the month. Then, you can review all the old and new-to-you Code films you watch on your website and include links to our post. You can also use the banner I made in your articles. You can frequently throughout the month, do weekly roundups of the films you are watching, or just publish a conclusion of your findings at the end of the month. Any article you publish with a link and the banner will be republished on our website. We would love to have you join!

        By the way, I want to let you know that I would like to join the Barrymore Blogathon. I have enjoyed participating the last two years, so I am looking forward to this year’s event. I haven’t decided what I want my topic to be yet. I am deliberating because August is also a themed month. In contrast to July’s #CleanMovieMonth85, I set August aside as a month in which we don’t watch any or many Code films so that we appreciate them by not seeing them. We are calling it #AMonthWithoutTheCode65. I haven’t announced it yet. I have yet to decide exactly how I am going to honor this month this year on my website, so I haven’t officially announced this year’s version of #AMonthWithoutTheCode yet. When I decide how I will host this month, I will let you know what Barrymore film or films I would like to choose as my topic. Thank you!

I want to update my blog, as I’ve been absent a lot from blogathons, and this is the perfect opportunity. I will write articles about films from those years. I will write about some films I’ve seen before, and ones that I will watch for the first time.

      2. Hi Tiffany. Grand Hotel is a wonderful choice. It’s actually one of my favorite movies, so I look forward to reading your article on it. Also, I wanted to ask you. Because I will be writing about Katharine Hepburn for your Code Film event, would it be alright if I wrote an article on one of her Pre-Code films as well her code films? The reason why is because I want to compare them. I’ve noticed in the past that a lot of Kate’s Pre-Code’s are more tame than a lot of other Pre-Code films.
